Where would you rank your public speaking anxiety (on average) on this scale?

Think of 1-4 (left side of the scale) as you are more in control of your nervous energy, while 7-10 (right side of scale) is where the nervous energy is more in control of you. Think of 5-6 (center) as where the anxiety is usually manageable but often problematic, as well.

If you find yourself thinking “no problem” when you hear you have to deliver an oral presentation, you are probably somewhere on the left side of the scale. If you find yourself thinking “no way” when you have to give a speech, you are most likely somewhere on the right side of the scale. If you regard public speaking as a “tenuous balance” between being able to manage your anxiety and it being in control of you, you probably are in the middle
